Bandage my Heart with Chocolate: Unwrapping Emotional Eating Learning to unwrap those situations that trigger an emotional eating response is critical to relearning to use food as fuel for the body, not as a bandage for the heart. This program offers participants the opportunity to learn about emotional eating, illustrated by examples from Lisa's personal experience, what contributes to its development, how to identify triggers and creating more effective responses to emotional situations. |

| Is it a Diet...or an
Eating Disorder? Wondering when it’s a diet and when it’s an eating disorder? Sometimes it can be difficult to tell, just by observing the behaviors of your peers. In general, striving to lose some weight in a healthful manner is a diet; trying to improve one’s entire life through food and eating (or restricting eating) is an eating disorder. But where is the line that separates one from the other? Learn about the continuum of eating behaviors – from healthy eating to eating disorder and everything in between. The multiple factors that contribute to our “diet culture” and the development of eating disorders will also be discussed to help you understand why some people will develop disorders, while others will not. |

► Well-Being |

|
Choose Wellness! Each day you make choices that effect your organization, your peers, and your campus. Deciding to put as much energy into choices that positively impact your own health is just as important so your personal and academic performance do not suffer. This presentation takes a look at wellness-based decision-making to encourage you to maintain a healthy balance between the demands placed on you and your own personal needs. You will learn how to gauge your readiness to change, about setting attainable goals for behavior change, what role rewards play, and how to cope with challenges to your progress. This is a practical system for making small changes that can make a big difference. Learn how to put these tools into use in your own life and also discuss how you can encourage your peers to do the same! |

Compassion Fatigue: Can You Care Too Much? We all care a great deal about our roles as student leaders, our academic commitments and the people we interact with on a daily basis. Yet this penchant to care can zap the energy right out of us if we are over-doing it. It may even get to the point where we lose our ability to empathize with others and feel we don’t – or can’t -- care anymore. If it gets to that point, it may actually be compassion fatigue, which is a type of burnout first identified in trauma nurses and other health care professionals. This session examines compassion fatigue and how to recognize and address it before it gets the best of you or your fellow student leaders. You will take away tools to help identify when you (or a peer) are burning out and how to prevent compassion fatigue from occurring in the first place. |

►
Alcohol and other Drugs |
|
| The Case of
Miss Perception & the Technicolor Yawn Alcohol is one of the most significant predictors of problems for college students. Much of that trouble begins with the misperception that high risk alcohol use is the norm, leading to incidents of severe intoxication and other problems. This program strives to correct the misperceptions surrounding student alcohol consumption while giving students practical knowledge on how to address problem situations that do arise. If the session is intended for student leaders, a discussion of their responsibility for role modeling positive healthy behavior around alcohol can be included. |
